Seven new emojis have been created in Unicode, which will likely be seen on iPhones and other devices, probably at the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.
The new symbols include a fingerprint, a shovel, a harp, a leafless tree, a beet, a puddle (or splashes of water), and a face with bags under the eyes, which could become the most popular (for example, I plan to use it when asking for vacation, or maybe for all work tasks 🙂).
The beta testing period for the new emojis will last until July 2, after which Unicode 16 will be released and the symbols will be officially approved. Usually, smartphone manufacturers, such as Apple, need several months to create illustrations for the newly approved emojis, so we will likely see them on iPhones after the release of iOS 18 (Macrumors suggests in March 2025 when iOS 18.4 is released).
The previous Emoji 15.1 collection from Unicode included a phoenix, a brown mushroom, and gender-neutral families.
