The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 SUPER is not real—it was created on the YouTube channel Teclab. Using the RTX 3090 Ti as a base, along with the AD102 chip and GDDR6X memory, has significantly boosted performance.

Teclab takes viewers through the entire process of creating their NVIDIA RTX 4090 SUPER. They based it on the GALAX GeForce RTX 3090 Ti HOF, into which they installed the NVIDIA AD102 Ada Lovelace family GPU. This chip operates with the fastest available GDDR6X memory. Their efforts have been rewarded; enthusiasts achieved remarkable performance.

The original NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 does not offer a SUPER variant, and it is unlikely to appear in the future. However, there is evidence of development, including prototypes of coolers and printed circuit boards. The RTX 3090 Ti features a slightly different board than the standard version, having more in common with the RTX 4090 (AD102) than with the RTX 3090 (GA102). After the launch of the RTX 4090, it became clear that the printed circuit boards of the 3090 Ti and 4090 have minor differences. The RTX 4090 introduced two separate voltage controllers. The 1.8V controller powers the memory and other components on the board, while an additional 1.2V controller powers just the chip.

Why did the YouTubers choose the GALAX RTX 3090 Ti HOF OC LAB? This model comes equipped with a liquid cooling block, providing better cooling without resorting to exotic components. The RTX 4090 from the manufacturer did receive a HOF variant, but not the HOF OC LAB. Modifications to the 3090 Ti HOF to convert it into the RTX 4090 SUPER include the installation of the AD102 chip, 24 Gbps GDDR6X memory, changes to the memory installation, and the addition of a controller to supply 1.2V to the chip.

Regarding the memory modules, each GDDR6X chip was handpicked by Teclab to ensure the use of the highest quality matrices. The memory consists of GDDR6X (ZF) Micron modules (161-0480-900).

The cooling system utilizes the GALAX GeForce RTX 3090 Ti HOF OC Lab liquid block with some modifications, such as thermal paste for each memory matrix and a high-quality thermal interface for the GPU. This ensures excellent contact with the liquid block featuring a nickel-plated plate.

Cooling is provided by two 360mm radiators arranged in a push/pull configuration along with a water pump operating at a flow rate of 234 liters per hour. The ambient temperature was 18.7°C, and the coolant temperature was 20°C. As a result, even during intense overclocking above 3 GHz, the graphics card did not exceed 54-55°C.

The resulting NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 SUPER was tested in Unigine Superposition 8K with a GPU frequency of 3105 MHz and memory speed of 12900 MHz, achieving module speeds of up to 25.8 Gbps. Teclab has previously reached speeds of 26 Gbps using a modified memory mode on the RTX 4070 Ti.

The result of many hours of modifications, adjustments, and testing is a significantly higher performance solely through liquid cooling. The obtained NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 SUPER is 39% more powerful compared to the standard RTX 4090 with overclocking and 16.5% without it. The card is nearly at the expected performance level of the NVIDIA RTX 5090—48% higher.
