The developers at Bethesda have shared new details and showcased gameplay footage of the upcoming DLC, Shattered Space, which is set to be the most chilling expansion in the studio's history.

The events will center on the planet Va'ruun'kai, home to the mysterious religious cult known as the House of Va'ruun, which worships the Great Serpent. Due to a secret experiment with a gravity drive, the fabric of the space-time continuum was torn, resulting in a disaster in the capital city of Dazra and the emergence of horrifying creatures from other dimensions.

The city of Dazra, carefully crafted by the developers, has transformed into a disaster zone following the incident. A massive crater has formed in its midst, the cult leader has vanished, and a mysterious energy field surrounds the main fortress. Players will face new challenges as they explore over 50 new locations, including eerie dungeons, devastated laboratories, and enigmatic temples of the House of Va'ruun.

Shattered Space will introduce players to a variety of new enemies. In addition to monsters that have breached the rift in the space-time continuum, players will also contend with cultists and space pirates from the Blood Fleet.

The developers have made slight adjustments to the combat system, "reducing the distance between players and opponents to enhance the sense of horror and imminent threat." Among the new features are grenades made from "repugnant" organic materials.

The expansion highlights the dark side of an excessive quest for knowledge—a key theme in Starfield. It will illustrate how noble goals can lead to catastrophic outcomes when ambition overshadows caution.

Shattered Space is set to be released on September 30 for PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X|S at a price of 760 UAH. Owners of the premium and collector's editions of the game will receive the expansion for free.
