Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reported that the first Apple Mac computers with M4 chips will be released later this year, with additional models expected next year. In his Power On newsletter, Gurman shared a specific roadmap that describes the sequence of the launch of these new Mac computers.

So, according to Gurman's information, the release of new Macs is expected to follow this order:

  1. A budget 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 is expected to arrive around the end of 2024.
  2. A 24-inch iMac with M4 is also expected around the end of the year.
  3. New high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M4 Pro/Max chips are scheduled to be released from late 2024 to early 2025.
  4. Mac mini configurations with M4 and M4 Pro chips will debut from late 2024 to early 2025.
  5. New 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models are planned for spring 2025.
  6. A high-end Mac Studio with an M4 chip is expected around mid-2025.
  7. A Mac Pro with an M4 Ultra chip should hit the market in the second half of 2025.

Gurman added that Apple conducted internal tests of the M3 Ultra chip, which will be suitable for Mac Studio and Mac Pro. At the same time, he is "fairly confident that at least some high-end Apple computers" will skip the M3 series chip.

Additionally, it is reported that Apple will focus on the artificial intelligence capabilities of the M4 chip series.
