Apple has added the accessibility feature Vocal Shortcuts to iOS 18, and users who have tested the beta version have discovered that it can be used to assign a new wake word for Siri.
With Vocal Shortcuts (special voice commands for triggering actions), you can choose an alternative to the standard "Hey Siri". To do this, you need to go to "Settings" — "Accessibility" — "Voice Commands", select "Siri" (not Siri Request) and enter a new name, for example, "Computer".
Afterward, you will be able to activate Siri by voice using this word. However, as Macrumors notes, the feature is limited to iPhone and does not sync with other devices, where the assistant will remain with its standard name.
Reddit users write that after setting up, you need to pause and wait for the changes to take effect before the new Siri will respond to you.
You can use Vocal Shortcuts to launch any action, or set triggers for programs, system functions, such as taking a screenshot, adjusting the volume, and so on.
