Luca Maestri joined the company in 2013 and just a year later was appointed as Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Peter Oppenheimer.
Apple announced that effective January 1, 2025, CFO Luca Maestri will step down from his position, but will remain with the company — he will lead corporate services teams that encompass information systems, technology and security, real estate, etc., and will continue to report to CEO Tim Cook.
The position of CFO will be filled by Kevan Parekh — currently Apple’s Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis. Parekh has been with Apple for 11 years and previously held executive roles at Thomson Reuters and General Motors.
“It has been the greatest privilege of my professional life to serve the most innovative company in the world and to work alongside Tim Cook — an inspiring leader. I look forward to my next chapter with the company. Kevan is truly exceptional, passionate about Apple and its mission, and embodies the values that are crucial for this role.”
CNBC notes that when Maestri took office, Apple's annual revenue was $183 billion, which grew to $383 billion last year.
“Luca has been an extraordinary partner in managing Apple for a long time,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. “He has played a crucial role in enhancing and driving the company’s financial performance, engaging with shareholders, and instilling financial discipline across all of Apple’s departments.”
It’s worth mentioning that last week, Apple announced the departure of App Store head Matt Fischer. The division is undergoing restructuring amid increased scrutiny from EU regulators — and will effectively be split into two teams (one responsible for the main store and the other for alternative services).
