A Qantas flight traveling from Sydney to Japan encountered technical issues, resulting in all passengers being abruptly shown the same movie during the flight. The problem was compounded by the fact that the film had an R rating and contained "sexual content," and passengers were unable to turn off their screens.

As noted by The Guardian, the film in question is "Daddio," released in 2023 and starring Dakota Johnson. The plot features her character in a taxi recounting her sexual escapades to the driver (Sean Penn). The film was rated R prior to its release for containing "sexual material" and "brief nudity," though one passenger remarked that it seemed like "a 40-minute display of breasts and genitals."

"Poor kids and their parents, you should have heard the heavy breathing throughout the plane," he added.

The airline explained that there was a malfunction in the individual movie selection system, which ultimately defaulted to "Daddio" as the only option for everyone.

"The film was clearly inappropriate for in-flight viewing, and we sincerely apologize to our customers. We subsequently replaced it with family-friendly content — a standard practice in such rare instances when individual movie selection for each passenger is not feasible," said a Qantas representative.
