The police have charged a 20-year-old gamer Edward Kang, who attacked another player. To harm his opponent, the accused did not hesitate to travel over 1000 miles (over 1600 km).

The dispute started because of the multiplayer online game ArcheAge. Unable to come to an agreement online, Edward Kang decided to meet his opponent in person. Not even the need for a long trip stopped him.

So, according to the police, Kang flew from Newark, New Jersey to Fernandina Beach, Florida. Upon arrival in Fernandina Beach, he stayed at the Ocean Coast hotel and bought a flashlight and a hammer. Kang then headed to the home of Zachary Din, with whom he had a dispute.

Edward Kang entered the house, dressed entirely in black clothes, with gloves and a mask. He attacked Din with a hammer, causing him "severe head injuries".

Din reported that he was playing video games when he got up to visit the bathroom and saw Kang. He was standing with a hammer in a "ready-to-strike position". A fight ensued between them. Din's stepfather interfered, awoken by his stepson's cry for help. When he entered the room, he found his stepson on the floor, struggling with Kang. Together, they managed to restrain Kang until the police arrived, called by Din's stepfather.

During the fight, Zachary Din sustained serious head injuries, but fortunately, they were not life-threatening. He was taken to the hospital with the injuries, and later released home. Investigators found a "significant amount of blood" at the scene of the attack in the entrance of the house and Din's bedroom.

When asked why he carried out the attack, the suspect said that his victim was a bad person online.

Kang was placed in the Nassau County jail and charged with attempted second-degree murder and armed burglary.

The game ArcheAge, which led to this incident, will be shut down on Friday for users in North America due to a decrease in the number of players.
