According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos's wealth reached $200 billion on Tuesday, returning him to the top positions in the list of billionaires.
Business Insider notes that in 2017, Bezos surpassed Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates for the first time as the world's richest person, and the last time he held this title was in 2021—before being overtaken by Elon Musk (at one point, Tesla's CEO's advantage reached $142 billion).
Bezos has reclaimed the top spot after a prolonged increase in Big Tech stocks amid the boom in artificial intelligence. The billionaire owns the aerospace company Blue Origin and 9% of the e-commerce giant Amazon (the company's shares have risen by 17% this year alone).
Musk and the owner of the luxury goods brand LVMH, Bernard Arnault, are in second and third places respectively—with $198 billion and $197 billion. Tesla's shares have fallen by 24% this year.
