The blockchain platform XProtocol has unveiled teasers for its proprietary device called XForge. The company describes the smartphone as the world's first to incorporate a DePINDePIN combines blockchain technology with physical infrastructure. node. The cost of the crypto phone is $299. XForge is designed to enhance the gaming experience and integrate with the decentralized network XProtocol.

The main feature of XForge is its ability to function as a full-fledged blockchain node (part of the blockchain network). The first 10,000 purchasers of the smartphone will receive an Xardian node (currently, this is a paid feature), enabling them to earn up to 20% bonus on the base rewards for supporting the node. Additionally, device owners are promised 10% of the total token supply (which amounts to 8 billion coins) and exclusive airdrops from top projects.

Validators will receive rewards in $xKICK tokens, which can then be converted to $KICK. The tokenomics are detailed below.

Interestingly, the official documentation for launching the Xardian node specifies the following technical requirements:

  • 4 GB RAM
  • 2 CPU cores
  • 60 GB of storage
  • x86/x64 processor
  • Stable Internet connection

It has already been announced that the XForge will run on Android, feature 256 GB of storage, 12 GB of RAM, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. For now, that's all that is known.

What is XProtocol?

XProtocol is a decentralized Layer 3 protocol built on the Base (Layer 2, L2) and Ethereum (Layer 1) blockchains. By leveraging the advantages of both layers, it can facilitate over 1,000 transactions per second and nearly zero fees. This protocol is best suited for developing and deploying decentralized applications that require high scalability and performance. In the future, XProtocol plans to migrate to its own Layer 1 blockchain network.

XProtocol has already launched a testnet. The mainnet launch is expected in the fourth quarter of this year, along with the launch of the KICK token.

The company has sold over 5,200 nodes and raised $5.2 million in funding from prominent investors, including Saison Capital, Dragonfly Capital, Cogitent Ventures, Coinfund, Razer, Caballeros Capital, MSA, Zephyrus Capital, and others.

The release of the XForge smartphone is set to occur slightly ahead of the announced Solana Mobile crypto phone, Seeker, which will be launched in 2025.
