In the new Apple iPad Air and iPad Pro tablets, there is a new menu "Battery Status" in the settings section, which contains parameters that were once limited to iPhone 15 models.
So, the "Settings" ➝ "Battery" section now includes a new menu "Battery Status", which displays the "Battery Status" parameter (with a value of "Normal"), maximum capacity, cycle count, and optimal charge limit at 80%. Users can also see details about when the battery was manufactured and when it was first used.
The code, which was previously found in the beta version of iPadOS 17.5, referred to the "Battery Status" menu. It was assumed that this innovation would be limited only to new iPad models. It is noteworthy that reading the cycle count and the ability to more strictly prevent charging above 80% have so far been exclusive features of the iPhone 15 series, and they are also not available on older iPhone models.
The 80% limit is different from the Battery Health Optimized Charging feature on previous iPhone models, which intelligently defers charging above 80% to a more suitable time by studying the device's daily charging trends. If the hard limit at 80% is enabled, the iPad will never charge above this percentage, except in rare cases, to "maintain accurate estimates of battery charge status." Apple says that reducing the time the battery is fully charged can reduce battery wear and extend its service life.
