In addition to street thieves and overly enthusiastic fans, the Tesla Cybertruck's glass has a new formidable foe — the cleaning cloth.
Tesla and Elon Musk have heavily promoted the durability of the Cybertruck, yet incidents involving the pickup's glass continue to occur. A user on a forum for Cybertruck owners from Pennsylvania, named Addam, reports that while simply cleaning the glass, he ended up with the results visible in the photo.
“While cleaning the windshield with a brand new microfiber cloth, the windshield cracked in a ‘spiderweb’ pattern and shattered. Is anyone else having trouble with the fragile windshield? This should be covered by warranty or recall. Very dissatisfied,” he expresses his discontent.
The car owner insists that he did not apply pressure to the glass while wiping it from the inside. “I don't think I'm that strong,” he comments.
It's worth noting that the “ultra-durable” glass of the Cybertruck has cracked multiple times this year for various reasons. In April, it was damaged by a hailstorm in Texas. In August, a thief easily smashed a side window and looted the interior. Perhaps the most absurd incident occurred when a fan of the Tesla Cybertruck demonstrated its durability by walking on the windshield, which resulted in it cracking. Meanwhile, the trunk lid seems sturdy, as proven by raccoons.
