SpaceX has announced the date of the third test flight of Starship. It will take place on the beautiful day of March 14.
The first Starship test took place in April of last year, and progress slowed down after that, as SpaceX had to build a flood protection system on the site to avoid damage during launch. After regulatory approval, which took several months, the second Starship flight took place in November 2023.
SpaceX began testing the super heavy-lift rocket Starship last year, with the spacecraft already making several flights aimed at demonstrating its landing capabilities. NASA has contracted Starship for landing astronauts on the Moon, and as SpaceX progresses in building the world's largest rocket in Texas, they are also collaborating with NASA on astronaut flight matters, reports Wccftech.
At the end of last month, NASA and SpaceX shared important news about Starship tests, when the space agency announced that it and SpaceX had tested the docking mechanism of the second stage of Starship. This is an essential part of the rocket, as it will allow astronauts to enter Starship for landing. The crew will launch from Earth on the NASA Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, and before descent, will transfer to Starship in lunar orbit.
