At the Black Sea Security Forum 2024 in Odessa, the unmanned boat Stalker 5.0 was presented. The maritime drone was demonstrated in the conference hall.
The crewless boat Stalker 5.0, measuring 5m in length and 1.2m in width, costs €60,000. It is equipped with a cargo compartment and can transport goods. The drone also performs reconnaissance and patrol functions along with combat missions on the sea or river coast. Stalker 5.0 has a control system and video transmission using Starlink.
The surface drone is equipped with a 60 hp gasoline engine, providing a maximum speed of 40 knots (75 km/h) and a cruising speed of 30 knots (55 km/h). The fuel capacity and characteristics allow the drone to operate up to 600 km. The weight of the combat payload can reach up to 150 kg.
An expert notes that the surface drone Stalker 5.0 is somewhat inferior in characteristics to the Magura V5 boat, but it is almost 5 times cheaper. Magura can carry a combat load of 320 kg and conduct operations up to 800 km away. However, this drone costs approximately $270,000. The cost reduction of maritime drones will allow them to be used more frequently, in larger quantities, and against smaller targets, making their use more effective from both a military and economic perspective.
