The Nikopol-based company “Centravis” specializes in the production of seamless stainless steel pipes—one such pipe is used for fuel supply in a rocket from the American aerospace company SpaceX.

As noted by Forbes, the order consists of 28 tons of thick-walled pipes with a combination of mechanical properties such as ductility, hardness, high-pressure endurance, and the ability to operate in aggressive environments.

The order was completed on a tight schedule (in 2.5 months) at the main production facility in Nikopol. The pipes have now been shipped and will soon arrive at SpaceX—specific details regarding which rocket they will be used for remain unknown.

According to Dmitry Kislenko, the sales manager at Centravis Sales America, the order from SpaceX was unusual, as seamless stainless steel pipes of such size and specifications are not produced in series:

“We managed to convince the customer that we would manufacture the pipes on time and that they would meet all requirements. Our experience in the American market played a significant role here.”

It is also noted that Centravis previously produced a special pipeline for NASA that was used during testing of the Space Launch System rocket.

Centravis, founded by the Atanasov family over 20 years ago, specializes in the production of seamless stainless steel pipes for the automotive, energy, oil and gas, and aerospace industries. In 2023, the company produced 12,200 tons of seamless stainless steel pipes, with over 99% of this volume being exported to 38 countries worldwide. Among the largest consumers of Ukrainian seamless pipes are Germany, Italy, and the USA, with clients including Thyssenkrupp, Alstom, Samsung, ExxonMobil, BMW, and Volkswagen.
