Blog writer Proxy Game Tactician combined several modifications for the role-playing game Baldur's Gate 3 to introduce a first-person perspective. This allowed him to explore in greater detail the fantasy world crafted by Larian Studios.
Even though Baldur's Gate 3 is an isometric game, the developers paid significant attention to the detail in locations that is often missed during regular gameplay.
“Despite being an isometric game, the developers have infused an incredible amount of detail into every corner of the world. There's so much that you can't truly appreciate it with the standard game camera. This is why in this video I modified the game to fix the camera in a first-person view, and I attempted to tackle battles and exploration in Baldur's Gate 3 solely using that perspective,” wrote Proxy Game Tactician.
Completing the game in this manner is certainly possible, although it comes with challenges. For instance, the companion Lae'zell proved to be less helpful in battles in Avernus due to camera limitations. However, overall, the blogger was pleased with the experiment. As Proxy explained at the end of the video, his first-person mode is actually a combination of nearly ten mods:
- Norbyte's Baldur's Gate 3 Script Extender
- Native Mod Loader
- Native Camera Tweaks
- WASD Character Movement
- Remove Camera Move
- Choose your size
- ImpUI
- Better Maps All-In-One
- Basket Full of Equipment. SFW version
Sven Vincke, the head of Larian Studios, noticed the video on its release day. The studio leader wrote that he too wanted to "give it a try."
It's worth noting that after the release of the seventh patch for Baldur's Gate 3, the developers at Larian Studios opened access to official modification tools. Modders quickly overcame all limitations and began creating their long-desired custom maps.
