Volkswagen has unveiled its "sportiest electric vehicle to date," the ID.3 GTX Performance. Equipped with a powerful electric motor and new batteries, it is seen as the electric equivalent of the popular Golf GTI Clubsport.

The new Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Performance is the first model featuring the enhanced Volkswagen Performance Drive System. The Performance version boasts a motor with an output of 240 kW (321 hp), which is 30 kW (40 hp) more than the standard GTX model (210 kW). Furthermore, the engine's torque in the Performance version reaches up to 545 Nm, surpassing the capabilities of the automaker’s most powerful turbocharged V6 engine. "Volkswagen's sportiest electric vehicle" can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.

The ID.3 GTX Performance's 79 kWh battery provides a driving range of approximately 600 km (WLTP). Fast charging is supported, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in about 26 minutes.

The electric vehicle features sporty design elements typical of the GTX lineup, including a new black air intake. The new model includes more GTX-branded elements in the interior. It is equipped with a 12.9-inch infotainment system and the latest VW software. Additional features include a heads-up display and a premium Harman Kardon sound system.

The new Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Performance is available for pre-order in Germany starting at €52,295, including VAT. Currently, Volkswagen is offering a discount of €3,570 on all ID models, which brings the starting price to around €48,725.

Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport, powered by a 300 hp (221 kW) internal combustion engine, capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, is priced starting at €48,075.
