Remember the woman who slept in the X Twitter office and justified Elon Musk's methods, but was still fired? Well, now Esther Crawford works for Mark Zuckerberg at Meta, which she shared on Instagram. Crawford was X Twitter's product management director for over two years before being fired in February 2023.

"A few personal news: I joined the Messenger team at Meta as a product director. Messengers have changed the way we communicate with friends, family, content creators, businesses, and now it's also an interface for interacting with artificial intelligence ... Although I considered many great options, Meta was my best choice because I'm obsessed with how people communicate through technology - no other company has a greater impact than Meta in this space, which brings together nearly 4 billion people (half of humanity).

Crawford was considered one of Elon Musk's top deputies after he took over the company in October 2022. She was responsible for the Twitter Blue subscription service and became known when she publicly embraced Musk's hard work culture.

"When your team follows deadlines around the clock, sometimes you sleep where you work," Crawford wrote at the time.

Despite surviving the first three rounds of layoffs at the company, Crawford was ultimately fired in February 2023. She shared her thoughts on Musk and his management style in July of the same year.

  • "First of all, Elon is incredibly charming and sincerely funny," Crawford wrote. "...Tells the same stories and jokes over and over again ... His personality and behavior can go from excitement to anger."
  • "Since it was difficult to read what mood he was in and what his reaction would be to anything, people quickly began to fear calling meetings or telling him bad news," Crawford said.
  • "Sometimes it seemed that the internal environment was too jealous and fanatical in its unwavering support for everything he said."

However, Crawford says she won't stop using X just because she joined Meta. According to her, she advocates for the use of "all social products that can be developed."
