Altcoins may experience significant price declines in the upcoming months. This trend is expected to intensify until the end of 2024 or January 2025. This forecast was made by Benjamin Cohen, founder of ITC Crypto. His prediction is based on the historical cycle of the cryptocurrency market. The last major drop in altcoin prices occurred during the bear market in 2019. Subsequently, coins gradually regained their value throughout 2020 and soared to new heights in 2021.
The analyst believes a similar scenario could unfold in 2025. In another tweet, he pointed out that altcoin pairs against Bitcoin have been "bleeding" for three consecutive years, and he reminded that the last altcoin seasons followed Bitcoin halving events in 2017 and 2021, respectively. The most recent halving took place in April 2024.
Recently, analyst Willy Woo stated that altcoin seasons (a period during which the value of cryptocurrencies continually rises) will still persist; however, returns will be decreasing.
Many experts anticipate that the next trend will be meme coins, which are expected to be the primary drivers in the market in 2025.
