It is expected that the future Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL smartphones will help take better selfies thanks to a significant update to the front camera. Marketing materials mention a 50-megapixel front camera with autofocus for these models.

Rumors suggest that the front camera and the rear ultra-wide and telephoto cameras will use a 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 sensor, while the main rear camera may have a 50-megapixel Samsung sensor. A Ukrainian TikTok channel demonstrated the Pixel 9 Pro camera in action, which features 30x Super Res Zoom.

Marketing materials also indicate that the base Pixel 9 will feature a 10.5-megapixel front camera with autofocus. On the back panel, the same sensors can be expected as in the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL, but without a telephoto module: a 50-megapixel main sensor from Samsung and a 50-megapixel ultrawide from Sony.

At the same time, a leak revealed some specs of the upcoming foldable Pixel 9 Pro Fold smartphone, and Taiwan's National Communications Commission shared photos of the device.

In the new Google generation model, the design moves away from the short and squat design that helped the original Pixel Fold stand out from the tall and narrow Samsung Galaxy Fold. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to have a taller and narrower form factor, which will also be reflected in the internal display.

The smartphone will ditch the camera panel on the back, which became one of Google's signature hardware elements. The new camera module will be shorter but taller. The front camera is now housed in a cutout in the upper left part of the display, whereas previously it was part of the frame.

It is also reported that engineers have decided to slightly reduce the battery capacity. In the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, it will be 4560 mAh, while the first Pixel Fold had a 4727 mAh battery.

The images also demonstrate a new USB-C charger with a 45W power, which is likely to be included with at least some of the new smartphones. It is much rounder than the charger Google included with Pixel phones over the past few years.
