Samsung has battery problems again: new Galaxy Watch7 drains too fast
0 0 5 1

In announcing the Galaxy Watch7, Samsung boasted about a "new level of battery life." However, the experiences of early buyers tell a different story.

Users on Reddit and Samsung community forums are reporting lower and even poorer battery performance compared to previous generation models. Tests conducted by PhoneArena reveal that the new smartwatches provide less than a full day of battery life.

“They were fully charged, and I used them from 6 a.m. Now it's almost 5 p.m... my battery is at 8 percent. Is this normal? I got these watches just a few days ago,” wrote user Difficult_Reason_621 on Reddit.

User JCinthehou3e had an even worse experience:

“I fully charged my 40mm non-LTE Watch7 at 7:30 p.m., went to sleep, and at 4:30 a.m. received a notification that my watch was at 5%. They couldn't even last the night for my alarm to go off at 6 a.m.”

The Galaxy Watch7 features a completely new Exynos W1000 chipset, fabricated using a modern 3nm process. It is expected to be significantly more efficient and provide much longer battery life compared to older models.

What’s even worse, some Galaxy Watch Ultra owners are also reporting short battery life for this expensive model, which is supposed to last at least two days on a single charge.

It seems the issue lies not with the hardware components but with a software bug that is causing excessive battery drain. This is good news, as it can potentially be fixed with a simple firmware update.

A member of a Korean Samsung community forum identified a bug that leads to rapid battery drain, and a software update is expected soon. In the meantime, users can follow tips from others to extend the battery life of the new Samsung smartwatches. Some users suggest that turning off the always-on “Hey, Google” voice detection on the Galaxy Watch significantly improves battery life. Other users advise disabling Bluetooth connectivity.
