Mercedes-Maybach and Rolls-Royce, move over: Huawei announced a luxury electric sedan Maextro S800 class D+ with a price starting from €124.3 thousand.

Huawei has unveiled its first electric vehicle under the new Maextro brand. This luxurious sedan, developed in collaboration with JAC, is designed to compete with leading players in the D+ sedan segment, such as Mercedes-Maybach and Rolls-Royce.

The Huawei Maextro S800 measures 5480 mm in length, 2000 mm in width, 1536 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3370 mm. According to Richard Yu, head of Huawei's smart automotive division, this places the S800 in the top 0.01% of cars in terms of size.

The exterior combines classic luxury with futuristic elements. The car will initially be available in two color options: a purple-silver hue and traditional black. One of the most notable design features is the wheels, which have been compared by Chinese media to a "pancake" or "pie." This is a significant departure from the multi-spoke designs commonly seen in this segment, resembling rally wheels from OZ Racing or Ronal.

The rounded shapes are evident in the front grille, which, while vertical, is less squared than most luxury sedans. The lighting design is also distinctive, featuring two LED light strips that frame the main headlights, along with numerous small light sources that create a "Milky Way" effect. A similar design is used in the rear taillights and unique door handles.

The interior boasts a "starry sky" ceiling and two individual rear seats. Spy photos suggest the presence of three screens on the dashboard. A thick center pillar likely adds safety and structural integrity.

While detailed information about the vehicle's functionality is currently scarce, Huawei promises a range of "super" capabilities, including Super Cruise, Super Maneuverability, Super Awareness, Super Privacy, Super Communication, Super AI, Super Protection, and Super Reliability. The vehicle will support L3 autopilot thanks to a lidar system mounted on the roof. Huawei has also confirmed the integration of three intelligent systems: smart driving, smart cockpit, and smart control, which operate on the second-generation Turing platform.

With preliminary prices ranging from €124,320 to €186,510, the Huawei Maextro S800 will become one of the most expensive cars produced in China. This is a bold move for Huawei, and it may resonate in the Chinese market. The electric vehicle market in China is rapidly evolving, and luxury car buyers are willing to transition from gasoline engines to electric ones.
