MediaTek has prepared to launch a new mobile processor, the Dimensity 8350, which is not significantly different from the existing Dimensity 8300. However, the new chip is expected to enhance gaming performance on devices.
The Dimensity 8350 processor is built on a 4-nm manufacturing process. It features four powerful Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 3.35 GHz and four energy-efficient Cortex-A510 cores. The graphics are powered by the Mali-G615 MC6. The SoC supports quad-channel LPDDR5X RAM with a speed of up to 8533 Mbps and storage up to UFS 4.0. For AI tasks, it utilizes a multi-core MediaTek NPU 780.
The only noticeable difference found in MediaTek's materials is the new StarSpeed engine for gaming. The old 8300 used HyperEngine for gaming. StarSpeed in the Dimensity 8350 offers 10% lower energy consumption (24% lower in high frame rate and full-frame modes), 24% faster scene transition speeds, and low latency in data transfer. However, MediaTek does not specify if these improvements are in comparison to the 8300 or another chip.
The new Dimensity 8350 also supports Bluetooth 5.4, 5G, and Wi-Fi 6E. The chip can handle displays with refresh rates of up to 180 Hz (FullHD+) or 120 Hz (WQHD+). For photography, there is a limit of 320 MP for a single camera or 32 MP for three cameras. Video recording is capped at 4K at 60 frames per second.
The new Dimensity 8350 chipset is currently announced for three new devices from Oppo.
