The Kia EV9 has quickly gained acclaim as a practical and luxurious electric crossover, but the company is raising the bar even higher by introducing a powerful version known as the EV9 GT. Unlike the GT-Line variant, this performance-oriented model boasts a significant power increase along with several other enhancements.
While the standard all-wheel-drive EV9 has a total output of 378 horsepower, the GT takes power to a new level. With a more powerful front motor producing 214 horsepower and a rear motor delivering 362 horsepower, the EV9 GT achieves an impressive total of 501 horsepower. This increase in power results in enhanced acceleration capabilities. Kia claims that it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, which is significantly faster than the EV9 GT-Line AWD.
The Kia EV9 GT 2025 receives a comprehensive suite of updates to manage its increased power. Larger brakes enhance stopping performance, while an upgraded suspension featuring adaptive dampers ensures optimal handling and stability. The EV9 GT is equipped with 21-inch wheels fitted with Continental tires and features an electronic limited-slip rear differential for improved traction and cornering capabilities.
One of the most intriguing features of the EV9 GT is the Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) technology. Borrowed from its corporate sibling Hyundai, VGS simulates the experience of driving a traditional internal combustion engine vehicle. It provides drivers with the option to choose between automatic transmission mode or manual gear shifting using paddle shifters.
Visually, the EV9 GT distinguishes itself from the standard model with unique 21-inch wheels, decorative elements, and bright lime-green accents. The interior is fitted with more supportive sports seats upholstered in Alcantara. The Kia EV9 GT 2025 comes complete with a full suite of driver assistance technologies and is equipped with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing it to charge at Supercharger stations.
Although Kia has yet to announce the official price or range for the EV9 GT, it is expected to be slightly more expensive than the current GT-Line AWD, which starts at $75,395 in the U.S. The range is anticipated to be somewhat lower than that of the GT-Line AWD, which is 435 km. Deliveries are expected to begin in the second half of 2025.
