Kia has unveiled its new electric vehicle, the EV5 GT Line. This crossover boasts a sporty character and is relatively affordable compared to the Tesla Model Y, although opting for the "sporty" version comes with a significant price increase.

The Kia EV5 GT Line is based on the standard EV5, which the company introduced last summer. The new model features a sleek black design complemented by 20-inch aluminum wheels. Inside, the GT Line showcases a two-tone leather steering wheel and other black accents.

However, the power difference is not as striking as one might expect from a sporty variant. The GT Line version is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that generates 316 hp (233 kW), which is only 10 hp more than the standard all-wheel-drive model with a greater range. This allows the EV5 GT Line to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 6 seconds. It has a range of 580 km according to the CLTC cycle. Fast charging technology enables the battery to be charged from 30% to 80% in just 27 minutes.

Kia has also made some updates to the standard EV5 models. The interior now features a new blue-gray color scheme and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The company is utilizing fully plant-based materials for the seats and door panels. The new Kia ccNC infotainment system, equipped with two 12.3-inch displays for the central and driver interfaces, is standard across the entire EV5 lineup. Additionally, power-folding side mirrors are available.

The Kia EV5 measures 4615 mm in length, 1875 mm in width, and 1715 mm in height. This makes it slightly smaller than the Tesla Model Y, which is 4760 mm long, 1921 mm wide, and 1624 mm high. However, the EV5 provides a more accessible starting price than its Tesla counterpart. The Kia EV5 starts at €18,900, while the Kia EV5 GT Line begins at under €27,000.
