Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk announced plans to establish a new gaming studio under his company xAI. This decision emerged after discussions on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) regarding the current state of the gaming industry.
The conversation was initiated by user BillyM2k, who criticized the prevailing trends in game development: “I don’t understand how developers and gaming journalism became so ideologically biased. Gamers have always been trolls, standing against greedy corporations and all sorts of nonsense.”
“Too many gaming studios are owned by large corporations. xAI will create an AI gaming studio to restore greatness to video games!” — Musk wrote on November 27.
In October, a fan inquired about the potential for Musk to establish his own gaming studio, mentioning the issue of "pronoun prioritization" in games. The entrepreneur responded: “Starting a gaming studio would be an exciting venture. I genuinely love video games and believe that AI can make them incredible.”
The entrepreneur expressed concerns about the impact of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies on the gaming industry: “When something is forced into a game, it ruins the art and detracts from the storyline. Just let me enjoy video games.”
The X community (Twitter) actively supported Musk’s initiative. “We really need this, Elon! All the games released in recent years are TERRIBLE!” — one user wrote. “Wow, xAI is starting to make games. That’s something!” — another added. “This is the right direction,” summed up a third user.
As a reminder, Musk recently achieved the top spot in the global rankings of the game Diablo 4.
