Anthropic has introduced a new feature for customizing communication styles in its chatbot, Claude AI.
This update allows users to manage how the artificial intelligence responds to various requests by selecting from predefined templates or creating their own communication styles. This functionality is now available to all Claude AI users.
The developers have implemented three standard styles: Formal for polished text creation, Concise for brief and clear responses, and Explanatory for educational materials with additional details. Each style is tailored to meet specific needs, ranging from technical documentation to business correspondence.
To create a personalized style, users need to upload samples of their desired format and provide the chatbot with instructions on how to replicate the writing manner. Multiple styles can be created.
“Sometimes you need in-depth explanations to learn new material, and other times, quick answers when you’re in a hurry,” explains Claude product lead Scott White. “You can prefer a formal style in some contexts or a friendly tone in others. The great thing is that you only need to set your preferences once for every interaction to align with your needs.”
Such features have already been adopted by Claude AI competitors — OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini, which can swiftly adjust the tone and detail of Gmail drafts. Similar style adjustments are also offered by Apple's Writing Tools.
