Peripheral device manufacturer 8BitDo is launching an officially licensed keyboard styled after the Xbox.
Previously, the company released its Retro Keyboard in NES and Famicom colors. It also introduced a special C64 Edition, inspired by the keyboard of the Commodore 64 home computer, as well as the M Edition, reminiscent of the classic IBM Model M from 1985.
The 8BitDo Retro 87 Xbox Edition mechanical keyboard features transparent green plastic, similar to the original console. It is equipped with Kailh Jellyfish X switches, a hot-swappable PCB, dual-layer ABS keycaps with a matte UV coating, programmable buttons, and fully customizable RGB backlighting.
This keyboard is compatible with Windows and Android devices and comes with a set of large programmable dual-action buttons. Additional features include separate volume controls, an Xbox button for launching the Game Bar, a 2.4G adapter, and a 2000 mAh battery. 8BitDo claims the battery lasts for 200 hours on a single charge.
The 8BitDo Retro R8 Mouse – Xbox Edition boasts the same distinctive transparent green color for its casing. It is equipped with a PAW 3395 sensor, Kailh Sword GM X switches, and programmable red and green side buttons. The polling rate and DPI can also be adjusted using the company's Ultimate Software app.
It can connect to devices via Bluetooth, wireless 2.4 GHz, or wired connection. A charging dock in the same color scheme is also included.
8BitDo Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard and Retro R8 Mouse Xbox Editions are set to launch on January 16, 2025, with pre-orders currently available at a price of $119.99 and $59.99 respectively.
