The team from PL of KPI Igor Sikorsky Lyceum won the international hackathon on artificial intelligence for teenagers - they developed an application that helps to learn sign language.

This was reported by the Ukranian Minister of Digital Transformation, Mikhail Fedorov.

He notes that in just two days, schoolchildren created a prototype of the ConnectAbility application.

ConnectAbility is an artificial intelligence-based application that teaches sign language to children with hearing impairments. It can also serve as a "voice translator" by recognizing and voicing gestures.

Only 5 teams out of more than 40 made it to the finals. Ukrainian schoolchildren competed with teams from Britain, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Thailand.

Initially, the PL of KPI Igor Sikorsky team won the Ukrainian stage of the international Teens in AI hackathon.

Prior to the competition, participants attended thematic workshops and lectures for a month, during which they learned about the features of AI systems and developed practical skills necessary for implementing their own ideas.
